Kathmandu, Nepal - Swarnim Wagle, a prominent economist and leader of the Nepali Congress, has left the party in a fit of anger after not receiving a ticket for the upcoming by-elections in Tanhu Constituency No. 2. Wagle has joined the National Independent Party, led by Ravi Lamichhane, ahead of the polls which are scheduled to be held on Baisakh 10.
Wagle, who is also the vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission, expressed his disappointment with the Nepali Congress for not giving him a ticket to contest the by-elections. In a statement, he said, "I have been a loyal member of the Nepali Congress for many years, but I am deeply disappointed by the party's decision to not give me a ticket to contest the by-elections. As a result, I have decided to leave the party and join the National Independent Party led by Ravi Lamichhane."
Wagle's decision to leave the Nepali Congress has sent shockwaves through the political circles in Nepal. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential economists in the country and his departure from the party is seen as a significant blow to the Nepali Congress.
